Kushner, who is married to Trump’s daughter Ivanka Trump, used the private email account as well as his official White House email account to communicate with advisers and administration officials — including former top strategist Steve Bannon, former Chief of Staff Reince Priebus, and National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn.
Kushner’s lawyer, Abbe Lowell, issued the following statement in response to the report.
“Mr. Kushner uses his White House email address to conduct White House business,” said Abbe Lowel in a statement Sunday. “Fewer than 100 emails from January through August were either sent to or returned by Mr. Kushner to colleagues in the White House from his personal email account. These usually forwarded news articles or political commentary and most often occurred when someone initiated the exchange by sending an email to his personal rather than his White House address.”
The revelation that Kushner used a private email comes after Trump slammed Democratic nominee, Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server while she was secretary of state, during the 2016 elections — and was also the subject of an FBI investigation.
