Greenblatt is meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas during this week’s trip.
In June, Greenblatt and Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, traveled to both Jerusalem and Ramallah to meet separately with Netanyahu and Abbas. The June meeting reportedly became tense over the issue of the PA’s payments to terrorists and their families.
It is anticipated in the coming weeks, the Trump administration will outline the next steps in U.S.-led peace effort with his senior advisers and cabinet members.
