El Pais newspaper says, “The van used in the attack was rented by Driss Oukabir, in the town of Santa Perpetua de la Mogada, according to the identification made by the Civil Guard.” It is not clear if Driss Oukabir was the perpetrator of the attack but police do know that he is the one who rented the van and they have him in custody.

According to Oukabir’s Facebook page, he goes by the name, “Driss Oukabir Soprano” and said that he lives in Marseilles, France.
Reports say that his social media was filled with anti-Israel posts and that he recently posted about wanting revenge against Israel putting up metal detectors outside the Temple Mount a few weeks ago. Those metal detectors were put in place after terrorists shot and killed 2 Israeli policemen at the Temple Mount but were removed a few days later after international pressure.
Oukabir’s Facebook page was immediately deleted by Facebook. TMZ managed to capture a few posts before it was taken down.
