After MK Yigal Guetta (Shas) revealed his participation in his gay nephew’s wedding, a list of rabbis published a joint letter requesting his immediate dismissal from public office.
(JOL) Several rabbis are calling for the dismissal of MK Yigal Guetta (Shas) due to his participation in the wedding of his gay nephew. The attack against Guetta started following an interview with Army Radio yesterday (Monday).
During the interview, Guetta stated that his nephew called him several years ago and asked him to be the rabbi at the wedding. After finding out that his nephew was gay, Guetta refused to the request but told him that he would help him find a rabbi and will also be present at the wedding with his wife and kids.“We went with the entire family,” Guetta explained. “Usually I don’t tell them which events to go to but in this case, I told them they had to come…I told my kids: Know that we are going to make him happy because he is the son of my sister and I want to hug my sister, but the Torah says it is forbidden and abominable.”
The rabbis were not satisfied with the MK’s explanation and published an angry letter against his participation in the wedding. According to the letter, the rabbis requested his immediate dismissal from public office.
