Israel’s  “Wonder Woman” star Gal Gadot will host  “Saturday Night Live” for the show’s upcoming 43rd season, NBC announced.

Gadot will host the Oct. 7 episode with musical guest Sam Smith and it will mark the first time she has hosted the long-running NBC sketch series.

Gadot broke a record for Super Hero movies when “Wonder Woman” earned more than $400 million at the domestic box office which surpassed the previous record that was held by Spider Man.

Gadot was born and raised in Israel. At age 18 she was crowned Miss Israel 2004. She then served two years as a soldier in the Israel Defense Forces where she was a combat trainer. She began studying at IDC Herzliya college before pursuing modeling and acting.

Between the age of 18-20, Gadot served for two years as an enlisted soldier in the Israel Defense Forces, serving as a combat trainer. She says of her time in the army: “You give two or three years, and it’s not about you. You learn discipline and respect.”
