Saipov, was said to be celebrating killing eight people and injuring 13 others, in his room at Bellevue Hospital, sources say.
“He’s talking. He’s laughing. He’s very happy with what he did… He feels accomplished.” said a hospital source.
FBI officials said Saipov waived his Miranda rights and said he “felt good about what he had done,” the complaint said. Saipov also told investigators he considered displaying the ISIS flag in the front and back of the pickup truck, but was worried it would draw too much attention.
The complaint also said that Saipov specifically chose Halloween for the attack date because he thought “there would be more civilians on the street.” Saipov originally planned to strike people on the West Side Highway then head over to the Brooklyn Bridge to continue his attack. Saipov told the FBI that he practiced maneuvering trucks for a few weeks.
The FBI also discovered over 100 ISIS videos and 3800 images from his phone which were mostly propaganda. Many of which gave instructions on how to build a bomb while others showed beheadings.
President Donald Trump said the terrorist should be executed and added that he “would love” to send him to the Guantanamo Bay but that it would take too long and that for now they would have to prosecute through the federal system.
…There is also something appropriate about keeping him in the home of the horrible crime he committed. Should move fast. DEATH PENALTY!
