WATCH: Members of Knesset Pray for Rav Shteinman

Members of Knesset took a break from today’s sessions to pray for the recovery of Harav Aharon Leib Shteinman, 103, after doctors at Maayanei Hayeshua Hospital in Bnei Brak reported that the rabbi’s condition had deteriorated significantly. He is said to be suffering from kidney failure and is unconscious.

Harav Shteinman is a Haredi rabbi and posek (halakhic authority) in Bnei Brak, Israel. Following the death of Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv in 2012, he is widely regarded as the Gadol Hador (Leader of the Generation), the leader of the non-Hasidic Lithuanian world. Rav Chaim Kanievsky has asked everyone to pray for Harav Aharon Yehuda Leib Ben Gittel Faiga.

Rabbi Steinman’s daughter Rachel Devora Berlin, 72, passed away this morning from a heart attack. She was buried in Bnei Brak.
