
The father and Israeli man, and two teenagers are in critical condition and were rushed to Staten Island University Hospital. Four FDNY firefighters were also injured. The cause of the fire is under investigation and is not considered suspicious. Fire officials are investigating if the cause was Hanukkah Menorah lights.
The fire on East 14th Street in Sheepshead Bay was discovered and called in at around 2:00 a.m.
Two teen boys, were able to jump from a second floor in the house. The others escaped through a side door.

The entire house was engulfed in flames and burned through the second floor and the attic.
FDNY firefighters arrived in less than two and a half minutes from when the call came in.

The mother, 40, was fiund dead on the second floor of the single-family home. Nearby were her 3-year-old daughter, 7-year-old son and 11-year-old son.
“It was an early morning, everyone in their home was asleep,” said FDNY Commissioner Daniel Nigro. “The fire did start and it got a good start before a neighbor noticed it and called us.”
“This is a terrible tragedy, not just for this community, but for our city. This time of year, when these things strike, it just tears your heart out for the family,” . “Our city grieves with this family today.” Fire commissioner Daniel Nigro said.
The victims will be buried in Israel according to family sources. The family celebrated the Bar Mitzvah of their son less than 5 months ago and the father worked at a local hat store. JBN has learnt the names of the family but is not revealing so that the entire family has time to hear about the new.
