In a disturbing display of antisemitism masquerading as political protest, anti-Israel demonstrators descended upon a synagogue in New York City over the weekend.

The protest, organized by the Palestinian Assembly for Liberation (PAL), announced last week its intention to rally against an Israeli real estate sale in Kew Garden Hills, a predominantly Jewish neighborhood in Queens.

“Every time these illegal sales take place, we will give them no peace and a protest will follow each time, until liberation and return. Across the US and Canada, realtors continue to sell stolen Palestinian property on settlements that are illegal under International law,” PAL wrote on X.

Chillingly, the post also featured an inverted red triangle, a symbol used by Hamas propaganda to mark Israeli targets for attack, followed by a call to end the “settler-colonial project of Israel and its goal of expansion.”

Despite a last-minute relocation of the real estate sale originally scheduled at Congregation Charm Circle, anti-Israel protesters still gathered outside the synagogue on Sunday. Angrily, they called for an intifada against Jews and waved Hezbollah flags.

NYPD were dispatched when the antisemitic rally started getting heated after counter-protesters came to the area. In swarms, they came waving Israeli flags and called for the release of the 120 remaining abused hostages still being held in Gaza. Although pro-Hamas protesters reportedly physically assaulted Jews at a nearby basketball court, the police did not make any arrests.

New York politicians quickly condemned the repeated targeting of the city’s Jewish population.

“Harassing people outside of their house of worship is unacceptable. While everyone in the US has the right to protest, there is no place for hate, violence, & antisemitism,” wrote Rep. Grace Meng (D-NY).

Similarly, New York State Assembly member Sam Berger stated, “The event changed venues but the protesters didn’t care, harassing Jews for the crime of going to pray.”
