According to Arutz Sheva, a dangerous looking device was found near Netanyahu’s home in Caesarea. Upon thorough examination, Israel’s bomb squad identified the device as a smoke grenade.
“The incitement against Prime Minister Netanyahu crossed another red line this evening. The Attorney General, the Shin Bet and the Israel Police must put an end to the violence and incitement against the Prime Minister. The writing is on the wall.” Netanyahu’s Likud party said in a statement.
Throughout the day an estimated 3,000 protesters reportedly gathered outside Netanyahu’s Caesarea home demanding for new elections, citing his mishandling of the war effort and inability to bring Israel’s remaining hostages back home.
Meanwhile in Jerusalem, roughly 5,000 anti-Netanyahu demonstrators resorted to blocking traffic, setting a setting fire to a road in a residential neighborhood, and attempting to breach a security barricade. To prevent serious injuries the police were compelled to intervene, although no arrests were made according to the report.
Israel’s Prime Minister finds himself in a precarious situation, with efforts to negotiate the release of as many as 116 hostages held by Hamas stagnating in recent weeks, and political rival Benny Gantz withdrawing from the coalition.
On one hand, there is a fervent national desire to see Hamas utterly defeated and held accountable for its deadly massacre against Israel. However, the public is still reeling from October 7, with a growing number of Israelis expressing a willingness to end the hostages’ suffering – whatever the cost.
