Two British Army sergeants face investigation after wearing SS uniforms and performing Nazi salutes at a Halloween party, just days before Remembrance Sunday. The soldiers were escorted from their barracks party at Tidworth, Wiltshire, after photos of their actions began circulating online.
A Regimental Sergeant Major, who had initially approved the distasteful costumes, now faces suspension for both the authorization and allegedly misleading the commanding officer about prior knowledge of the uniforms.

Everyone in the Army knows this is completely unacceptable. Hundreds of the regiment’s officers and troopers lost their lives to the Nazis. It isn’t funny to dress up as an SS officer and wear a swastika.”
For the Queen’s Royal Hussars, one of Britain’s most distinguished armored regiments with a history dating to the 18th century, the incident has cast an unfortunate shadow over their reputation. In a statement, the army apologized, noting that their actions “demonstrated serious and significant shortfalls.”
“As soon as they became aware of the incident, the unit’s chain of command acted immediately to inform the Royal Military Police and a formal investigation is now underway. We won’t comment further while that investigation is ongoing,” the army said.
A similar controversy broke out in 2005 when Prince Harry was photographed wearing a Nazi Afrika Korps uniform complete with a German Wehrmacht badge at a fancy dress party. He later described it as “one of the biggest mistakes” of his life, expressing deep shame in the 2022 Netflix series “Harry & Meghan.”
“In this family, sometimes you are part of the problem rather than part of the solution. There is a huge level of unconscious bias,” the Duke of Sussex said in remorse. “The thing with unconscious bias, it is actually no one’s fault. But once it has been pointed out, or identified within yourself you then need to make it right.
“It is education. It is awareness. It is a constant work in progress for everybody, including me.”
