Both sides of Canada’s political aisle came together on Sunday to denounce the brutal murder of six Israeli captives.

“The murder of six Israeli hostages by Hamas terrorists in Gaza is devastating and enraging,” Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau wrote on X. “Canada stands with the victims’ families in your grief.”

“Hamas must release all hostages, lay down its arms, and have no future in the governance of Gaza. Leaders must reach a deal to bring the rest of the hostages home and end the violence.”

Canada’s opposition leader MP Pierre Poilievre issued a similar sentiment, stating, “Another 6 beautiful souls taken hostage on October 7th by the Hamas genocidal death cult were murdered while in captivity in Gaza.”

“These same evil terrorists killed 7 Canadians and continue to be supported by the tyrants in Tehran. Hamas must surrender and release all of the remaining hostages,” he said. “May their memories be a blessing.”

Meanwhile, in response to the ongoing tensions between Israel and Hezbollah in the north, Canada has opted to extend its new work visa program for an additional year. To be eligible, Israeli citizens must meet two key criteria. First, they need to possess a valid tourist visa, regardless of when they entered the country. Second, they must have family members who are either Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

Since the program’s inception, thousands of Israelis have reportedly relocated to Canada. With this latest extension, it’s anticipated that hundreds more families will consider making the move as well.

It’s worth noting that the immigration process can be quite costly, potentially reaching tens of thousands of Canadian dollars. Some of the expected expenses include immigration consultation and support, which can range from $3,500 to $7,000, and airfare at approximately $1,000 per person. Initial rent often starts at $2,000 per month, with landlords frequently requiring 2 to 6 months’ payment in advance. Essentials such as furniture, clothing, and miscellaneous items are estimated to cost around $10,000.

For those considering pursuing education while in Canada, international tuition fees at colleges are approximately $7,000 per semester, while university fees for international students begin at $30,000 annually
