Canada’s renowned healthcare system is hemorrhaging Jewish physicians as antisemitism spreads like a contagion through hospitals and medical schools.

According to a survey conducted by the Jewish Medical Association of Ontario (JMAO), 80% of Canadian Jewish medical professionals have faced antisemitism at work since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7,2023, with 31% now considering emigration from the country. Prior to Hamas’s massacre, only 1% of Jewish doctors experienced antisemitism in professional settings. Those numbers have since escalated dramatically, with 29% reporting antisemitism in community practices, 39% in hospitals, and 43% in academic environments.

Ontario’s medical community appears particularly affected, with 73% of Jewish medical professionals reporting antisemitism in academic institutions and 60% in hospitals. The impact on medical students has been severe, with incidents more than doubling from 25% to 63%.

The issue was addressed on Thursday at a conference in Toronto, where JMAO chairwoman Dr. Ayelet Kuper warned that discrimination is undermining the entire healthcare environment.

“It’s incredibly concerning to watch antisemitism creep into our medical institutions across the province,” Kuper said. “Discrimination doesn’t just impact doctors; it undermines the entire healthcare environment, compromising patient care and eroding workplace integrity. This is a crisis for all people in Ontario, not just Jewish doctors.”

Several speakers at the conference pointed to growing antisemitism within labor union ranks.

“Union members have been attending protests that condone terrorism, and I’ve witnessed colleagues showing up to these protests with union flags, chanting dangerous slogans. This environment has made me feel unsafe in my own workplace,” noted occupational therapist Serena Lee-Segal.

Recent police data underscores a wider crisis in Canadian society, with Jews targeted in 57% of Toronto’s hate crimes since Hamas launched its devastating attack against Israel. Of 98 documented hate crimes between October 7 and December 17, 56 were antisemitic incidents, which is more than triple the number reported during the same period in 2022.

Let the Jewish doctors make Aliya. Many people in Israel are afraid to use Arab doctors. So they can go to Canada. Good deal all around.

This is sadly true and it s happening b ‘cause Canada has Justin Trudeau as a leader and no moral clarity . Hopefully Trump will address, As Ontario floods the US with television ads claiming to share US values and objectives. Canada needs a real awakening.

Time for Aliya. Canada. US. Australia. And Europe. The worst. Let’s go home. It’s time.

During my adult life I have had 2 Jewish doctors and they were the best ever. Alas , both emigrated to Israel. Wish I could have gone with them.

I always wonder, how people are sure to even recognize a Jew from any other human being. I don´t know why I should do this as I learned to recognize only humans. – And I follow the wish of the Mighty God to bless His People and Jerusalem. Always. I hope to one day visit the Holy land myself… “next year in Jerusalem!”

I appreciate all the above comments. Unfortunately
I do believe that israel is the place to be. Anguri your comment is particularly touching . I hope that your dreams come true and maybe we will still see the messiah soon. The world has gone crazy and people are so uneducated and jealous of the success of Jewish people and this is what breeds hatred.

People are also jealous of the Jews’ determination to not be converted to Christianity. It irks them! How is it that the Jews stay faithful to their one G-d, despite all the evil efforts used to destroy their belief in Hashem!?

It’s almost impossible to change someone’s perspective once they have decided on their value system. October 7 was simply a dog-whistle for the haters to come out of hiding. Better the enemy you know….

What a sad and disgusting picture of Canad, a place I once thought of as enlightened, now I see it as a disgusting hole filled with Jew hating, terrorist supporting scumbags, I’m sure there are some decent folk there but their silence is complicit and the fact that the obscene is tolerated at all as made me know for 100% sure, I never want to visit Canada, never will and I Pray the Jewish people safety and peace in Trudeaus cess Pitt.
For goodness sake get this monster out.

All my life, I have had Jewish doctors, dentists, surgeons, and been thankful for them, and trusted them implicitly.
