A bombing attack against Israeli schoolchildren was miraculously thwarted yesterday
According to Channel 12 News, at approximately 4:30 am, authorities were notified of a suspicious vehicle parked outside the entrance to the small Israeli town of Ateret, east of Tel Aviv. Upon further examination, the vehicle contained nearly 110 pounds of explosive material packed into two gas tanks.
“The terrorism in Judea and Samaria requires military action just like in Gaza and Rafah. The population must be mobilized and the neighborhoods and terrorist infrastructures must be razed to the ground,” said Binyamin Regional Council director Yisrael Ganz.
Investigators believe the car bomb was intended for remote detonation timed for when children leave the town on their way to school. Officials have not yet released further details about potential suspects or specific targets.
Also on Monday, Hamas claimed responsibility for the deadly dual car bombs in the Gush Etzion area south of Jerusalem that injured three Israelis last week.
In the first attack on Thursday, a car exploded at a gas station after which troops shot dead the terrorist, later identified as Hebron native Muhammad Marqa. Within 20 minutes, his associate Zahdi Afifa infiltrated the nearby Karmei Tzur settlement, detonating another vehicle before IDF soldiers neutralized him.
Tensions have been red hot in Judea and Samaria since Hamas attacked Israel on October 7. On Sunday, three Israeli police officers were killed in a drive-by shooting some 7.5 miles northwest of Hebron. According to local reports, the Arab terrorist who carried out the attack was a member of the Palestinian Authority’s Presidential Guard.
