Federal Judge Leo T. Sorokin is demanding answers from the Department of Homeland Security after his deportation directive was ignored in the case of a physician removed from the U.S. after sharing Hezbollah propaganda content.

“The government shall respond to these serious allegations with a legal and factual response setting forth its version of events,” Judge Sorokin wrote in his order on Wednesday, questioning why officials failed to provide the required 48 hours’ notice before deporting Dr. Rasha Alawieh.

Alawieh thought her Brown Medicine credentials and H-1B visa would guarantee her smooth sailing back into the States on March 16, but Customs and Border Protection officers had other ideas when they discovered what they called “sympathetic photos and videos” of the Iranian-backed terror group during a routine screening.

The Lebanese-born doctor, who’s been working in America since 2018, couldn’t convince border agents that she wasn’t a security threat. Rather than taking chances, CBP officials shipped her back to Lebanon via Paris despite in spite of Sorokin’s order.

“A visa is a privilege, not a right — glorifying and supporting terrorists who kill Americans is grounds for visa issuance to be denied. This is common sense security,” DHS officials said in defense of their decision.

CBP’s Assistant Commissioner Hilton Beckham didn’t apologizes either.

 “Arriving aliens bear the burden of establishing admissibility to the United States,” he said in a statement. “Our CBP officers adhere to strict protocols to identify and stop threats, using rigorous screening, vetting, strong law enforcement partnerships, and keen inspectional skills to keep threats out of the country.”

The Trump administration has made it clear that sympathy for terrorists who target Americans and our Israeli allies is a one-way ticket back to where you came from. While Alawieh’s supporters stage their predictable protests and her cousin files complaints against federal authorities, border security officials remain focused on their mission of keeping America safe, even if it ruffles a few judges feathers.
