Israeli authorities have launched an investigation into former Prime Minister Ehud Barak over suspicion of incitement and sedition.
The investigation has been opened following a lawsuit by Israeli human-rights organization B’tsalmo after Barak criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during an anti-government rally in Tel Aviv last month.
“In the Israeli reality, a stable baritone and perfect English are no substitute for a complete lack of courage, character and integrity. Acts! Not talk! Netanyahu has none of these things. Therefore, it is essential and urgent to eliminate him,” Barak roared at the crowd.
“We are at the beginning of a new chapter of struggle. Whoever rolled Israel into this hole is not the one who will get us out of it. Netanyahu must not receive the third and last ship under his command. Our soul.”
In order to topple the coalition, Barak said, the public must engage in a large-scale revolt through widespread civil unrest and non-violent civil disobedience.
According to the Daily Mail, Barak had extensive financial ties to Jeffrey Epstein and has been linked as a frequent visitor to his properties. The former prime minister was accused by a woman in 2020 of being forced to attend to him by Epstein, but no charges were brought. In 2023, Diaspora Affairs Minister Amichai Chikli questioned why Israeli prosecutors have not investigated Barak’s ties with the now-dead pedophile.
Not only has Barak denied the allegations, but he has often blamed Netanyahu for poisoning the media.
“Despite the fact that there was no wrongdoing on my part, I’m not going to address these questions because in the current political environment in Israel, such a question is churned up as spin in the political game,” Barak told the Daily Beast. “For over 20 years, anyone who has stood against Netanyahu has been dragged through the mud and turned into a traitor.””
I never trusted this Mamzer even when he was in the IDF. I considered him a traitor. Let the courts have a good time with him as he also associated with a pediophile
I personally have NEVER seen a person who was a former prime minister behave as Barak has done. He certainly took actions against a legally chose prime minister of Israel and slandered him in a vicious way. All the things he accused Bibi of were exactly a projection of Barack’s mind; every time he opened his mouth against Bibi he transferred his guilty actions onto Bibi with such a venom that I saw an irrationality in Barak which crossed many illegal boundaries. For one thing he saw himself as entitled to slander the legally elected Prime Minister of Israel, not realising that his slander actually damaged Israel in the eyes of the world. He was not elected recently so he has no immunity from the Kenesset; all his opinions are that of an ordinary citizen of Israel and as such he could be guilty of incitement and sedition. I personally feel that he had no self filter and behaved like an enemy rat hare than an ex prime minister. I think he has damaged the image and integrity of the elected Prime Minister of Israel in a reckless way which borders clearly on sedition. I hope justice will be done. Nasty, vicious man with a poisonous tongue…..
A disgraceful man. Jealousy of the prime minister is obviously blatant. He should not be allowed to incite violence and spill his anti government hatred. Especially during a time of war
