A kosher restaurant in France was vandalized with antisemitic graffiti has been vandalized, marking the latest incident in a surge of antisemitic attacks since October 7.

O’Laffa is a kosher establishment catering to Lyon’s Jewish community. On Thursday, owner Cindy Fevre woke up to see her restaurant defaced with red paint and the message “Free Gaza” scrawled across its exterior.

“These are not just tags but significant damage that reflects a very deep hatred,” Fevre, 34, tells Le Figaro. “When you discover this, you ask yourself a million questions. Should you stay or leave? These red marks represent bloodstains. It’s very serious; they are death threats.”

Housing a large portion of Europe’s Arab population, France has faced escalating antisemitism since that fateful day. Earlier this month, a synagogue in La Grande-Motte was targeted with arson, and an elderly Jewish woman in a Paris suburb was attacked.

Notoriously, a 12-year-old Jewish girl was raped by three Arab boys in Paris over the summer. At the time, the child told investigators that she was called a “dirty Jew” and other antisemitic slurs during her abuse.

Other infamous incidents this year include when an assailant broke into a Paris daycare and threatened its Jewish director with a knife, and an attempted murder of a Jewish woman in her home in Lyon. Shortly after Oct. 7, police thwarted a plot that planned to blow up 20 Jewish schools in Paris.
