Will he be alive to talk to us again? Will his family be allowed to live? This is a lonely voice of reason. This is a man so exhausted by war he is willing to risk his life to stop it. Where are the rest of the “innocent civilians” who want peace? Those killed in the raid last week chose to die. They could have put down arms and surrendered the hostages, but they fought to keep them instead. That is why civilians in Gaza die: they value death more than life. We in the west do not understand this. We don’t accept that they do not want peace. That is the only reason there is no peaceful solution: it isn’t wanted by most of the people of Gaza. If they want peace, if they want their own country, they can have it today. Just stop the violence. Build schools and hospitals instead of tunnels. Build desalinization plants. Build harbors and industries. Use the pipes for water instead of digging them up to make rockets. Teach their kids to want peace instead of war. I will personally guarantee that Israel will support you.
