America’s young voters are showing an overwhelming indifference to Israel’s mission to uproot terrorism from Gaza.
A recent survey conducted by Harvard University’s Institute of Politics found that a mere 1% of respondents aged 18-29 cited the “Israel/Palestine conflict” as their primary concern. Instead, young Americans are far more preoccupied with domestic issues such as the economy, inflation, and abortion rights.
There also remains a lack of clear preference between Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democratic nominee Kamala Harris on the issue of resolving the Gaza war. Among this very impressionable demographic, 28% said they “trust” Trump while 26% say they think Harris is better for the job. However, Harris performed far better against Trump among young voters on a wide variety of domestic issues such as gun control, abortion, health care, and education.
Considering the widespread campus media coverage since October 7 on student “activists” fighting for Arabs, it’s clear that there is a major disconnect here. At least according to researchers at Harvard, it turns out it’s all just noise as this demographic couldn’t seem to care less about what’s happening in Gaza. In fact with the economy plummeting and inflation on the rise, just take a quick look around and see for yourself how Gen Z is more concerned about paying rent and finding jobs rather than debating Middle East policy.
