Yoram Metzger HY”D, who was killed while in captivity in the Gaza Strip, was laid to rest on Thursday after the IDF recently returned his body to Israel. In a poignant tribute, his granddaughter eulogized him and sang “Yesterday” by the Beatles, one of his favorite songs.

Metzger, a resident of Kibbutz Nir Oz, was a father of three and a grandfather of seven. He was kidnapped on October 7 along with his wife Tami, who was later released in the November hostage deal.

Kibbutz Nir Oz expressed deep sorrow over Metzger’s death, stating, “We are filled with heavy sorrow over the murder of Yoram Metzger by Hamas in Gaza after he suffered physical and mental torture for months… Yoram will be remembered in our hearts as a pleasant and smiling man who always made everyone feel at home.”

His son, Nir, delivered a heartfelt eulogy at the funeral, saying, “My beloved father was brutally kidnapped. There, in the Khan Yunis tunnels, you met Mom. It was a small consolation that you were there with her, and you were among friends until you were murdered in cold blood.”
