A concerted effort is underway to normalize Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. In a recent article, The Guardian described Nasrallah as a “qualified Islamic scholar, effective public speaker, and competent organizer.” Notably absent from the description? Words like mass murderer, terrorist, and war criminal—leaving out the darker side of his legacy. This is reminiscent of the Washington Post’s al-Baghdadi obituary headline describing him as an “astute religious scholar.”
