Hamas released a video of hostage Matan Zangauker on Saturday.

In the propaganda video, the captive Israeli directly addresses Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, criticizing the government’s recently announced reward strategy for returning hostages safely from Gaza.

“I heard about your new plan to return us home. I heard that you will give $5 million to whoever returns us safely home and provide them a safe exit from the Gaza Strip. I am very disappointed. Now I am certain you do not know your enemies and that you do not understand their mentality. This is your failure and the failure of the government since October 7,” he forcibly said.

Matan was abducted from his home in Kibbutz Nir Oz together with Ilana Gritzewsky, 30, on October 7 as Hamas terrorists stormed through southern Israel. The assault on the kibbutz was particularly devastating, with a quarter of its residents either killed or kidnapped.

While Ilana was freed on November 30 during a brief ceasefire agreement mediated by Qatar and the United States, the 24-year-old still remains in captivity.

Israeli officials have repeatedly denounced Hamas’s strategy of releasing hostage videos, calling it a calculated effort to inflict emotional distress on the victims’ families.
