According to Qatar’s Al-Araby TV, sources indicated that the terror group “agreed to the content of the deal and requested small modifications.” The details of those modifications have not yet been made public, but officials suggest they are not significant enough to derail negotiations.
The development comes just one day after U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters he believed a ceasefire deal was imminent. “I think you’re going to see a ceasefire within 24 hours,” Trump said Thursday. “The hostages need to come home, and I believe we’re very close.”
If finalized, the agreement would mark a significant diplomatic breakthrough in efforts to halt the nearly 10-month-long war sparked by Hamas’s October 7 massacre and mass hostage-taking in southern Israel. 20 hostages are reported to be alive and in captivity in Gaza.
