Hamas has issued a set of extreme demands that threaten to derail intensive international efforts to broker a ceasefire agreement with Israel.

According to reports from Lebanese media, a flurry of shuttle diplomacy involving the United States, Egypt, and Qatar has been underway in recent weeks. CIA Director Bill Burns spearheaded these efforts, consulting with key parties before President Biden unveiled his vision on Friday for a potential ceasefire framework.

However, Hamas has dismissed Biden’s proposals out of hand, insisting on stringent preconditions that expose their desire to extract even more concessions from Israel.

Chief among the terror group’s demands is an insistence on a permanent, all-encompassing ceasefire backed by written US guarantees that leave no room for divergent interpretations. Hamas is unwilling to provide any assurances whatsoever regarding its conduct after a theoretical ceasefire. The terror group has also demanded that it alone represent all Arab factions in the negotiations, to prevent any attempt to open side negotiations with Israel.

Israel has repeatedly demonstrated a willingness to pursue a durable resolution, but is confronted with a rejectionist machine that prioritizes barbarism and savagery. Hamas seems hell-bent on perpetuating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and pursue its vendetta to destroy the Jewish State.
