Vice President Kamala Harris has decisively snubbed a pro-Hamas movement’s endorsement despite the group’s significant influence in a crucial battleground state.

In an interview with CNN, Michigan’s “Uncommitted” movement co-founder Abbas Alawieh revealed that Harris’s campaign explicitly rejected their endorsement offer, which hinged on halting weapons transfers to Israel.

“I was astounded that the Harris campaign told us in no uncertain terms that they do not want the endorsement of the Uncommitted movement,” Alawieh told CNN anchor John Berman.

The antisemitic movement, which emerged after the October 7 Hamas attacks against Israel, has demonstrated significant influence by reaching over one million Michigan voters and driving 101,000 to choose the “uncommitted” option during the Democratic primary.

According to Alawieh, he offered to mobilize his substantial Arab voter base behind Harris if she would commit to “a policy that would truly implement international law” and “stop the flow of weapons to Netanyahu.” He also criticized Democratic leadership for choosing to appease the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

“I think we need a reckoning in our country of why it is that Democratic leaders would rather appease the AIPAC pro-war lobby in our country instead of siding with the majority of Democratic voters who want a stop to the unconditional flow of weapons to Netanyahu’s murderous campaign,” he said.

Despite the rejection, Alawieh acknowledged he would still support the Democratic ticket in November, citing concerns about former President Trump, whom he described as “a purveyor of hate and White Supremacy” who is “actively preying on the pain of Arab and Muslim Americans.””
