Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah has boasted that his large-scale attack against Israel on Sunday was a huge success.
“Israel crossed all red lines when it attacked Dahieh and killed civilians, including senior commander Fuad Shukr. It’s natural for the resistance to announce its response to this attack. Israel is responsible for the escalation on Lebanon’s southern border,” Nasrallah said in a televised statement.

However, according to IDF Spokesperson Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, Hezbollah only successfully managed to fire 230 rockets and approximately 20 suicide drones. No Israeli bases were hit either, despite Nasrallah specifically claiming that the Glilot and Ein Shemer bases were damaged.
Shrapnel from an Iron Dome defensive missile claimed the life of a young Israeli soldier and wounded two others aboard a fast patrol craft.
It could have been much worse.
A large-scale IDF operation beforehand involving about 100 aircraft hit numerous Hezbollah positions in Lebanon after threats of an imminent attack. In total, 270 launch sites were destroyed, preventing the launch of as many as 6,000 missiles into Israel.
Hezbollah’s leader was quick to dismiss his failure by claiming that the sites struck were in “empty areas evacuated of such missiles.”
“If the outcome is satisfactory and the intended goal is achieved, then our response is complete. If the result falls short, we reserve the right to respond at another time. Our action may significantly benefit Palestinian and Arab parties in negotiations,” Nasrallah said.
“Its message is clear to Israel and the Americans. Any hope of silencing the support fronts is misguided. What we initiated 11 months ago, we will finish regardless of the sacrifice.”
On Monday, a Hezbollah official told MEHR News agency that as far as the jihadist group is concerned, the “first phase” of its attack is over.
