The Trump administration is abandoning the failed diplomatic fantasies of previous decades, with Ambassador to Israel Mike Huckabee candidly admitting that Palestinian statehood is no longer American policy.

“I don’t think so,” Huckabee told Bloomberg when asked if Palestinian statehood remains a US goal. “Unless there are some significant things that happen that change the culture, there’s no room for it.” Those changes, he added, probably won’t happen “in our lifetime.”

Rather than continue demanding Israeli territorial concessions for a peace that never materializes, Huckabee suggested a radically different approach. If Palestinians genuinely want statehood, perhaps other Muslim nations should provide the land instead of expecting Israel to sacrifice more territory.

“Does it have to be in Judea and Samaria?” Huckabee asked, using the biblical name for the West Bank.

Next week, France and Saudi Arabia are hosting a New York conference built around the tired premise that the Palestinian Authority could somehow expel Hamas from Gaza and transform the war-torn territory into a functioning state. Hamas triggered the war by launching thousands of terrorists across the border on October 7, 2023, slaughtering approximately 1,200 Israelis and kidnapping 250 others. About 50 hostages, many believed dead, remain in captivity 20 months later.

International concern has grown about Gaza’s 2 million inhabitants potentially facing starvation after Israel temporarily restricted aid deliveries in early March to pressure Hamas into releasing hostages. However, Huckabee endorsed efforts by the US-Israeli Gaza Humanitarian Foundation to deliver supplies while ensuring aid doesn’t fall into terrorist hands.

“It feeds Gazans while preventing aid from being seized by Hamas,” Huckabee said.

When the conversation turned to Iran’s nuclear program, Huckabee made clear that Trump will accept nothing short of total dismantlement of uranium enrichment capabilities, despite Iran’s outright rejection of such terms.

“The president has made clear that there’s a limit to his patience with Iran,” he said. “He doesn’t want there to be carnage. But he also has been even more clear that Iran’s not going to have a nuclear weapon, they aren’t going to enrich and they’re going to have total dismantlement.”

At 69, Huckabee has received numerous honors for his public service and pro-Israel advocacy, including the Friend of Israel Award from the Israel Heritage Foundation in 2022 and the Friend of Zion Defender Award from the Zionist Organization of America in 2019. He first visited Israel in 1973 and has led numerous groups to the region since 1981. At an Israel Heritage Foundation conference in Jerusalem last year, Huckabee spoke about how his first visit sparked a lifelong connection to the Jewish state.

Before entering politics, Huckabee worked as a pastor and religious broadcaster. He served as Arkansas governor from 1996 to 2007, where he focused on tax cuts, infrastructure development, education reform, and healthcare initiatives. Following his political career, he hosted “Huckabee” on TBN until early 2025 and has worked as a Fox News contributor.
