Hundreds of North American Jews are bravely answering the call to Aliyah despite the constant dangers inflicted by Israel’s enemies.
Last Thursday marked a watershed moment as 200 Jewish enthusiasts from the United States and Canada touched down on Israeli soil. Spread across five separate Aliyah flights, it marks a record one-day wave of Jewish immigration since October 7. Organized by Nefesh B’Nefesh in concert with Israel’s Ministry of Aliyah and Integration, 400 more are expected to call the Jewish homeland their home by Wednesday.
“We are in the midst of a blessed month, witnessing an impressive increase in Aliyah from around the world, despite this complex period of conflict in the north and south,” Minister of Aliyah and Integration Ofir Sofer said.
“I am filled with renewed excitement each and every time I come to welcome the newcomers. The entire nation of Israel shares in this excitement, and we all feel the Zionist spirit and the tremendous support from the Diaspora Jewish communities.”
Over the summer, Israel’s 2,000 new Olim so farr saw many in their prime working years in varied professions ranging from healthcare to law. Over 500 children will be marking the beginning of their own incredible dreams by starting Jewish school next week. Remarkably, an additional 15,500 immigrants are scheduled to arrive by the end of 2024, making the expected total number of persons making Aliyah in 2024 reach 37,000.
With antisemitism on the rise internationally, these inspired Jews are not merely seeking shelter. They are actively building a stronger, more vibrant future for in G-D’s chosen land for generations to come.
