An Israeli airstrike deep inside Lebanon on Friday evening killed Samer Mahmoud al-Haj, a senior Hamas commander. The strike targeted his car on the outskirts of Sidon, about 40 miles from the Israeli border. Al-Haj, who oversaw attacks against Israel and commanded Hamas forces in the Ain al-Hilweh refugee camp and was responsible for recruiting and training more terrorists there, was killed, while his bodyguard was critically wounded.
