This is probably the first time since 2005 that a Jewish woman has lit Shabbat candles in Gush Katif, Gaza when 8,600 Israeli residents were removed from their homes after a decision from the Cabinet of Israel. The communities were demolished as part of Israel’s unilateral disengagement from Gaza.
