Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has threatened retaliation following Israel’s unprecedented strikes on Iranian soil.

“We do not seek war, but we will defend the rights of our nation and country,” Pezeshkian said during Sunday’s cabinet meeting. “We will give an appropriate response to the aggression of the Zionist regime.”

However, that threat remains in question, as reports indicate Israel caused extensive damage in its attacks.

According to Axios, the Israeli operation on Saturday destroyed twelve planetary mixers that serve as a critical component in Iran’s ballistic missile program. These sophisticated devices, which Iran cannot manufacture domestically and must purchase from China, are essential for producing solid fuel for long-range missiles. Sources suggest that remanufacturing the mixers could take at least a year.

Satellite imagery shows Israel hit Iran’s Parchin military complex, a site where the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has historically expressed concerns about potential testing of high-explosive components that could be used to detonate a nuclear device. Though Iranian officials have repeatedly stated their nuclear activities are purely civilian in nature, both the IAEA and Western intelligence services maintain that Iran pursued weapons capabilities through 2003.

Further structural damage was observed at the adjacent Khojir military facility, which security experts suggest contains subterranean passages and missile manufacturing sites.

Iranian military officials have attempted to minimize the impact.

Deputy Commander Mohammad Mokhtari-far of the Army’s southwest headquarters claimed that ‘600 missiles were launched toward Iran’ in the Israeli attack but insisted that “no harm came to the people.” Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali-Akbar Ahmadian issued a similar sentiment on Monday, claiming that Iran sees no necessity to assess damage from Israel’s military strikes.

‘The Israelis are conducting their own assessment of their operation’s results, which they’ve been “celebrating extensively,” Ahmadian remarked. “The Israeli operation failed to affect any of the military capabilities they targeted, and the Islamic Republic’s defensive posture remains undiminished.”
