As Israel and Iran tensions continue to soar, Iranian Jews Jews were allowed to pray on Tisha B’Av

The Jewish community in Iran, which numbered around 150,000 before the 1979 Islamic Revolution, has dwindled to an estimated 9,000-15,000 today. Those who remain live under constant surveillance and are subjected to discriminatory laws and practices, including restrictions on their ability to travel, work, and access education.

Despite these challenges, Iran’s Jewish community has managed to maintain its cultural and religious traditions, with synagogues and Jewish schools still operating in major cities like Tehran and Isfahan.
