After nine months of war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas a ceasefire may be on the horizon.

According to Ynet, citing a senior White House official, the last pieces of a ceasefire agreement will be discussed when Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu meets with President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris later today. Despite some “minor” lingering disagreements, the negotiations are expected to run smoothly as Israel is running out of time to save its hostages.

“We have no time to waste as the lives of hostages are at risk,” the official said. “There are two sides to bridge, and there has been progress because the Israelis have put a lot on the table.”

“What is new now is that until now, Hamas was entrenched in its position, insisting on a permanent ceasefire, a full withdrawal of Israeli forces, and then some vague promise to release a few hostages after that happens. This was a stance that was clearly unacceptable.”

The proposed agreement outlines a phased hostage release, starting with women, elderly men, and the injured over a 42-day period. Approximately 33 hostages are expected to be released during this first phase. This marks a significant shift from Hamas’ previous demands for a permanent ceasefire and full withdrawal of Israeli forces before even considering releasing hostages.

However, Israel is still waiting for Hamas to provide a list of the remaining living hostages before a deal proceeds.

Surprisingly, Harris, who was notably absent from Netanyahu’s Congressional address last night, is said to be “eagerly” awaiting to meet Israel’s leader.

“They talk all the time. We know exactly what we want to try to do today, and I think they come to the meetings with the Prime Minister completely aligned,” the source noted. “It is time to do everything in our power to close the hostage deal and bring them home.”

Biden and Netanyahu will reportedly also discuss a strategy against Iran and its terror proxies, such as Hezbollah that has been constantly raining down rockets on Israel since October 7. Afterwards, they will also meet at the White House with families of the American hostages who are still stuck in the hell pits of Gaza.
