Hezbollah’s incessant rocket barrages have Israel weighing its options for delivering a knockout blow against the Iranian-backed terror group.
“Hezbollah’s growing aggressiveness brings us to the brink of what could be a greater escalation, which could have devastating consequences for Lebanon and the entire region,” Israeli Defense Forces spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari cautioned on Sunday.
Ever since Hamas’ deadly massacre on Oct. 7 against southern Israel, Hezbollah has pounded the country’s northern communities with over 5,000 rockets, anti-tank missiles, and suicide drones.
Israel has responded with force, launching airstrikes against Hezbollah senior personnel and terror infrastructure nestled in Lebanon’s civilian population. One such strike last Tuesday killed three senior terrorists, including an experienced field operative long seen at the side of Hezbollah’s leader Hassan Nasrallah.
While cross-border hostilities briefly abated Sunday in the wake of last week’s heavy exchanges, Hagari made crystal clear Israel’s determination to take the “necessary measures” to protect its civilians until security in Israel;’s north is secured. He also blamed Hezbollah for serving as a “shield for Hamas terrorists” accused of committing atrocities like murder, rape, and kidnapping on October 7.
As the Biden administration dispatches envoy Amos Hochstein on Monday to deescalate tensions, Israel ultimately holds Hezbollah’s state patron in Tehran responsible for fueling the regional crisis.
“Iran’s terror proxies continue to drag the region to destruction,” Hagari said. “Israel will continue fighting against Iran’s axis on all fronts in Gaza and Lebanon as we work towards a more secure future.”
“October 7th cannot happen again, on any one of Israel’s borders. Israel has a duty to defend its people. We will fulfill that duty, at all costs.”
Here is a video which Hezbollah uploaded to social media claiming to show some of their 1,500 suicide bombers, claiming they are ready to breach Israel’s borders and conquer the Golan Heights imminently.
just need one bomb to take them all out!
