As Israel prepares to defend itself at the International Court of Justice over allegations of abuse in Gaza, a new report from Ynet reveals how ‘inhumane’ Israel really is.
According to Ynet, the sister of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh gave birth prematurely in early May at Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva. The medical staff at the hospital have been working to save the life of Haniyeh’s premature newborn niece, despite the difficulties of treating a relative of the Hamas leader co-responsible for the Hamas massacre on October 7.
This is not an isolated incident of Israel providing medical care to relatives of Hamas leaders either, as several of Haniyeh’s sisters are Israeli citizens through marriage to Bedouins. In 2017, Haniyeh’s sister Suhila Abdel Salam and her husband, who suffered a serious heart attack, were allowed to enter Israel and receive urgent medical treatment at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, according to the report.
Shortly after the end of Operation Protective Edge in 2014, one of Haniyeh’s daughters received emergency medical treatment at Ichilov Hospital in Tel Aviv. Haniyeh’s youngest granddaughter Amal was critically ill with a digestive tract condition in 2013. She was hospitalized at Schneider Children’s Hospital in Petah Tikva, though she passed away from the disease shortly after.
