Just when you thought the New York Jets couldn’t embarrass themselves any further, they’ve managed to turn a routine coaching change into a circus of ridiculous accusations.
As soon as news broke of Head Coach Robert Saleh ‘s firing on Wednesday, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) released a statement accusing the Jets of firing him for wearing a Lebanese flag pin during Sunday’s game against Minnesota Vikings.
“The report that Jets security physically escorted Saleh out of the building does raise concerns about the possible motive for such unusual hostility especially given that Saleh wore a Lebanese flag pin at a game just days ago,” the statement reads.
Not to be outdone, sports radio personality Joe Benigno and a chorus of social media influencers have joined the fray by linking Saleh’s firing to the ongoing Israel-Hezbollah conflict. Never mind that Saleh has been sporting the same patch for weeks without issue, or that the NFL actually encourages such cultural displays.
Absurdly, CAIR also suggested that owner Woody Johnson’s past ties to the Trump administration somehow played a role. Because clearly, when you’re running a multi-billion dollar NFL franchise, your first priority is settling old political scores, right?
Johnson himself made it crystal clear during the press conference by calling the move to fire his coach was a football decision.
“This was not an easy decision, but we are not where we should be given our expectations, and I believe now is the best time to move us in a different direction,” he said.
Here’s a wild concept. Maybe, just maybe, Saleh got fired because of football. You know, that sport the Jets are supposed to be playing?
Under Saleh’s stellar leadership, the Jets racked up a whopping 20-36 record over three-and-a-half seasons. The team hasn’t sniffed the playoffs since 2010, and their current 2-3 record with the aging Aaron Rodgers is just the latest chapter in a long saga of mediocrity.
Real discrimination is a serious issue that deserves our attention. But baselessly accusing an NFL team of it because they fired an underperforming coach? That’s not just stupid. It’s downright dangerous post October 7.
I am impressed with this site, rattling I am a fan.

Saleh is a failure as a coach. accept it and move on! let’s fail to mention that he wore the pin for the past several weeks.
