Bernie Littman, 100, and Marjorie Fiterman, 102, have earned a Guinness World Record as the world’s oldest newlyweds after marrying recently at their senior living home in Philadelphia. The couple’s combined age broke the record for the oldest couple to marry.

Littman and Fiterman met at a costume party at their facility and later discovered they had both attended the University of Pennsylvania at the same time, though their paths never crossed. After forming a close bond, they decided to tie the knot.

Littman credits his longevity to reading and staying informed on world news, while Fiterman swears by buttermilk. “They keep each other young with their humor and intellect,” Littman’s granddaughter Sarah Sicherman told Guinness World Records, adding that both had been married for over 60 years to their first spouses before finding love again.

Rabbi Adam Wohlberg, who officiated the ceremony, said the couple felt it was “the right step” to go from close-friends to husband and wife.
