A recent poll has uncovered a potentially game-changing trend in Jewish American voting for the upcoming 2024 presidential election.

According to a Big Data survey, Vice President Kamala Harris holds a surprisingly narrow lead over former President Donald Trump among Jewish voters. Harris is favored by 52.7% of Jewish voters, compared to 45.9% for Trump. This represents a stark departure from historical voting patterns, where Jewish Americans have overwhelmingly supported Democratic candidates.

For context, Jewish voters have backed Democratic presidential nominees over Republicans by an average margin of 71% to 26% since 1968. In the 2020 election, President Joe Biden received 68% of the Jewish vote compared to Trump’s 30%. In 2016, 71% of Jewish voters supported Hillary Clinton with only 24% supporting Trump. The last time a Republican candidate managed to secure over 40% of the Jewish vote was Dwight Eisenhower in 1956.

“The Jewish vote is very close. This is something we all need to keep an eye on,” Big Data director Richard Baris said during his “People’s Pundit” show on Thursday. “You got to remember that even though a lot of the Jewish vote in this country is secular liberal, they still identify as Jewish. That vote is not going as well for Harris as it did for Joe Biden.”

Despite being married to a Jewish man, Harris is expected to take a more critical approach to Israel than Biden. During her meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu last week, she reportedly told him to be sympathetic to Arabs and called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

Although Trump has often criticized Jews who vote for Democrats, he was Israel’s strongest ally during his first stint as President. Trump implemented major policy shifts like the Jerusalem embassy move, Golan Heights recognition, and brokering the groundbreaking Abraham Accords.
