A new poll shows that Jewish American voters are rallying behind the Democratic party with renewed vigor.

According to the Jewish Democratic Council of America (JDCA), Vice President Kamala Harris maintains a substantial lead (72%) over former President Donald Trump (25%) among Jewish voters.

To put this into context, Jewish voters have backed Democratic presidential nominees over Republicans by an average margin of 71% to 26% since 1968. In the 2020 election, President Joe Biden received 68% of the Jewish vote compared to Trump’s 30%. In 2016, 71% of Jewish voters supported Hillary Clinton with only 24% supporting Trump.

Despite concerns about the Biden-Harris administration’s mishandling of the Gaza war and rising antisemitism, the survey suggests that Jewish voters still overwhelmingly prefer Democratic leadership. It found that 87% of Jewish American voters support Biden and Harris’s efforts to “reach an agreement for a ceasefire and hostage release” in Gaza.

Still antisemitism remains a top concern, with 91% expressing worry about its rise in the country. On this issue, Harris significantly outperforms Trump, with a 37-point lead in voter confidence to better address the problem.

The survey also challenges conventional wisdom by showing that Israel policy holds comparatively little sway over Jewish voting patterns, ranking ninth out of eleven key issues. Economic concerns and reproductive rights emerge as more critical factors in shaping their electoral choices.

However, these findings stand in contrast to a July poll conducted by Richard Baris, which indicated a much tighter race. Baris’s survey showed Harris leading Trump by only 52.7% to 45.9% among Jewish voters, pointing to a possible shift in this traditionally Democratic-leaning bloc.
