Jewish women played a pivotal role in funding the restoration of Notre-Dame Cathedral after the devastating 2019 fire.

Françoise Bettencourt Meyers, French billionaire and owner of L’Oréal, pledged €100 million (around $112 million at the time), while Lily Safra, a Brazilian Jewish philanthropist, contributed $22 million.

Together, their combined donations accounted for nearly 20% of the $700 million raised for the cathedral’s restoration.
