Amid a rash of vandalism targeting Tesla vehicles and charging stations across the country, CEO Elon Musk has singled out billionaire philanthropist George Soros as one of the alleged financial backers behind the destruction.

In a series of posts on his social media platform X on Sunday, Musk claimed that an unspecified “investigation” had identified five groups funded through ActBlue as responsible for what he termed Tesla “protests.” ActBlue is the major Democratic Party fundraising platform that processes online donations for Democratic candidates and progressive organizations across the United States. Among the wealthy donors Musk accused of bankrolling these activities was Soros, alongside LinkedIn co-founder and Democratic mega-donor Reid Hoffman.

“An investigation has found 5 ActBlue-funded groups responsible for Tesla ‘protests,'” Musk wrote, listing organizations including “Troublemakers, Disruption Project, Rise & Resist, Indivisible Project and Democratic Socialists of America.”

Musk’s unverified accusations come as Tesla properties face escalating attacks nationwide over the past few weeks. In Oregon, a Tesla dealership was struck by gunfire, damaging multiple vehicles and shattering windows. Another Oregon dealership was targeted with Molotov cocktails, resulting in an arrest. In Massachusetts, several Tesla charging stations have been set ablaze, while in Brookline, police arrested a Boston man allegedly caught on video vandalizing Tesla vehicles with anti-Musk decals.

Critics suggest the vandalism stems from backlash against Musk’s prominent role in the Trump administration’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which is even getting serious blowback from Trump’s MAGA Base.

According to the New York Times, during a White House cabinet meeting last Thursday, Musk blasted Rubio for failing to cut enough State Department staff, dismissing his defense that 1,500 employees had taken buyouts. When Rubio questioned whether Musk even understood the department’s efforts, Musk shot back that Rubio is “good on TV”. The room reportedly fell silent until President Trump stepped in to praise Rubio’s effort and issued an order that Musk’s team DOGE would be reduced to an advisory role.
