NBA guard Patrick Beverley has decided to take his talents to Israel by signing with Hapoel Tel Aviv. Although the terms of the contract have not yet been revealed, it’s expected to be more than the minimum NBA salary of $3.3 million.
Beverley, who split the 2023-24 season between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Milwaukee Bucks, played a vital role in the Bucks’ playoff run after being traded midseason. He averaged 6.0 points, 2.6 assists, and 3.6 rebounds per game during his time in Milwaukee.
Throughout his career, Beverley has been known for his defensive prowess, earning three NBA All-Defensive team selections, including a first-team nod with the Houston Rockets in the 2016-17 season. He has played in 666 regular-season games, averaging 8.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game.
“They gave me everything I asked for. I couldn’t refuse,” Beverley wrote on X.
Hapoel has been a rising force in Israeli basketball in recent years. The team finished second in the Israeli Premier League during the 2024 season, posting an impressive 18-6 record. The club also regularly plays in the EuroCup Basketball competition and has a history of signing high-profile players, such as three-time NBA Slam Dunk Contest champion Nate Robinson in 2016.
“This is a very exciting day. Patrick Beverley is joining the Hapoel Tel Aviv family. I want to thank the owners and all the management who made this happen, and of course thank Patrick as well, who during the meetings with us showed great respect for the club,” said Hapoel’s General Manager George Chinas sduring a press conference on Wednesday.
Currently, Hapoel plays in the 3,000-seat Shlomo Group “Drive In Arena” but may move to the larger 10,000-seat Menora Mivtachim “Yad Eliyahu” Arena, which would be shared with local rival Maccabi Tel Aviv.
