New details have surfaced regarding the U.S. Justice Department’s brand new task force created to prosecute Hamas terrorists and their supporters.

Dubbed “Joint Task Force October 7” (JTF 10-7), the unit will identify and prosecute the direct perpetrators who carried out the Oct. 7 massacre against Israel, pursue charges against Hamas leadership, and investigate Hamas’s financing networks. JTF 10-7 will also investigate civil rights violations and acts of antisemitism committed by Hamas supporters within the United States.

“As Attorney General, I have had the solemn honor of meeting with several families of US citizens whose loved ones were kidnapped by Hamas on that dark day,” said Attorney General Pamela Bondi on Monday. “This task force will strengthen the Department’s resolve to achieve justice for these families and their loved ones as we continue to fight antisemitism in all its forms.”

It marks the Trump administration’s most comprehensive effort yet to pursue legal action against those behind the assault that killed approximately 1,200 people and led to the abduction of 251 hostages.

Led by a senior counterterrorism prosecutor from the National Security Division, JTF 10-7 includes a highly experienced FBI Special Agent serving as Task Force Commander and an FBI Intelligence Analyst as Deputy Commander. The team will also draw personnel from multiple Justice Department divisions, including the Civil Rights Division, Criminal Division’s Money Laundering and Asset Recovery Section, and prosecutors from the Eastern District of Virginia.

Notably, the FBI has arranged for agents to be embedded with Israel’s National Bureau of Counter-Terror Finance, building on what officials describe as an already productive partnership in ongoing investigations.

“The FBI is committed to establishing the Joint Task Force October 7 to continue the FBI’s investigative and victim assistance efforts related to the horrific acts of terror committed by Hamas,” said FBI Director Kash Patel. “Working with our federal and international partners, this task force is a collaborative initiative between agencies, and together we will work to accomplish our vital counterterrorism mission.”
