US President Joe Biden’s appeal seems to be waning not just domestically but also in Israel, per a Channel 12 News poll.
The survey released Thursday shows that 44% of Israelis like Trump better than Biden, with Biden getting only 30% of their votes and 26% undecided. The divide is noticeable among those supporting Israel’s current government, with 72% favoring Trump. Opposition voters on the other hand leaned more towards Biden, with 55% backing him.
Biden showed strong support for Israel at the onset of the Gaza war, but disagreements over Israel’s military actions and humanitarian concerns have reportedly soured the relationship. During an interview with MSNBC this week, Biden confirmed that Israel’s planned operation into Gaza’s southern city of Rafah constitutes a “red line.”
Trump, for his part, has been relatively quiet about the conflict, other than to claim that the situation would have been different had he been president.
“You’ve got to finish the problem,” Trump told Fox News. “You had a horrible invasion that took place that would have never happened if I was president.”
