Former Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley is sounding the alarm on foreign election interference.

“Look at the murder-for-hire plot on U.S. soil, which I was named in, by Iran. Look at the Russian disinformation, which didn’t start this year. This has been going on for years,” Haley said Sunday night on CBS’s “Face the Nation.”

“Americans need to wake up,” Haley continued, highlighting the ongoing efforts of Russia, China, Iran, and to some extent North Korea to influence US elections. She revealed that during her presidential run, the FBI held a separate briefing with her to inform her about Iranian attempts to meddle in the election through her campaign.

“When I was running my presidential campaign, the FBI had a separate hearing with me to let me know that Iran was meddling and influencing the election through our campaign,” Haley said.

The former UN Ambassador’s warning comes in the wake of a recent Justice Department investigation into a $10 million Russian news propaganda operation. However, she emphasized that the threat extends beyond Russian dictator Vladimir Putin alone.

“Don’t just look at Russia. Don’t just look at China. Don’t just look at Iran. The biggest lesson we need to take is when you look at social media, I bet you a larger percentage of those are foreign engagements.”

Google confirmed last month that both Trump and Biden-Harris presidential teams received phishing emails from a hacker group believed to be supported by the Iranian government. Known as APT-42, the malicious software reportedly managed to access confidential documents from within at least the Trump campaign’s files. These materials were then circulated to various news organizations, though none have opted to publish them thus far.
