One year after orchestrating the bloodiest massacre against the Jewish people since the Holocaust, Yahya Sinwar is finally dead.

Hebrew news outlets are reporting that during a raid on a terrorist stronghold in Rafah, troops from the IDF’s Infantry Commanders and Combat Training School encountered and eliminated three terrorists. Concerned about possible explosives and grenades, the troops initially used drones to examine the area and the bodies. Remarkably, one of the dead terrorists looked remarkably similar to Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar.

Seeking to confirm Sinwar’s identity, soldiers photographed the body’s teeth and sent the images to the Israeli police’s forensic unit to match it to Sinwar’s dental records from his time in Israeli custody. According to Channel 12 News, the dental records came back as a “full match.” Fingerprint records were reported to match as well.

Further evidence lending credence to Sinwar’s demise includes the presence of a senior Hamas commander known to frequently accompany him, as well as two suspected bodyguards – one reportedly a teacher for UNRWA and the other a high-ranking official in Hamas’s National Security Office. In addition, large sums of cash and documents were found at the scene.

Becoming the first Israeli official to confirm the historic news, Foreign Minister Israel Katz wrote “The mass murderer Yahya Sinwar, who is responsible for the massacre and atrocities of October 7, was killed today by IDF soldiers. This is a great military and moral achievement for Israel and a victory for the entire free world against the evil axis of radical Islam led by Iran.”

Shortly after the IDF issued the following statement:

“Yahya Sinwar was eliminated after hiding for the past year behind the civilian population of Gaza, both above and below ground in Hamas tunnels in the Gaza Strip. The dozens of operations carried out by the IDF and the ISA over the last year, and in recent weeks in the area where he was eliminated, restricted Yahya Sinwar’s operational movement as he was pursued by the forces and led to his elimination.
