Watch below the moment that Nova massacre survivor Yarin Shariki, won the gold at the Paris Jiu-Jitsu 2024 Grand Prix and dedicates the win to his best friend, Yohai Ben Zechariah, 23, who was killed on October 7.
Shriki, competing in the adult male under-69kg Gi category, triumphed over Yael Truffandier of France, Samuel Chagny of France, and Kostiantyn Shutko of Ukraine.

“I dedicated my championship medal to my best friend, Yochai, who I grew up with,” Israeli jiu-jitsu fighter and Oct. 7 survivor Yarin said. “I’ve won a gold medal three times, but this was different.”

He added, “I wanted to sing ‘Hatikvah,’ I wanted everybody to listen. I did not fight for myself; I fought for my flag, for my country and for my friends who died.”
