A closer look at Kamala Harris’s VP pick reveals a politician whose positions on Israel shift dramatically depending on his audience and the political climate.
In Congress, Tim Walz presented himself as a staunch Israel ally. He voted to condemn a 2017 UN resolution declaring settlements in Judea and Samaria illegal. At a 2010 AIPAC conference, Walz praised Israel as America’s truest and closest ally in the region, with a commitment to values of personal freedoms and liberties.
After Hamas’ massacre against Israel on October 7, Walz, as governor, issued an executive order for US and Minnesota flags to be lowered to half-staff in remembrance of those lost. When pro-Hamas demonstrators gathered at his home, he maintained a resolute silence, and he condemned acts of antisemitism when Jewish students reported feeling threatened on college campuses.
Fast forward to 2024, and we see a starkly different politician. In March, Walz called for a permanent ceasefire between Israel and Hamas without preconditions. In a Minnesota Public Radio interview, he criticized Israel’s defensive campaign in Gaza.
“You can hold competing things: That Israel has the right to defend itself, and the atrocities of October 7 are unacceptable, but Palestinian civilians being caught in this has got to end,” Walz said.
Perhaps most telling is Walz’s praise for voters who casted uncommitted ballots in Minnesota’s March presidential primary to protest Biden’s support for Israel.
“This issue is a humanitarian crisis; they have every right to be heard,” he said. “These folks are asking for a change in course; they’re asking for more pressure to be put on.”
Now acting as an extension of Harris’ policies, Walz’s evolution hasn’t gone unnoticed. He’s earned praise from far-left progressives fiercely critical of Israel, such as antisemitic Democratic Reps. Ilhan Omar, Jamaal Bowman, and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
Walz’s flip-flop stance on Israel isn’t just a slight policy adjustment. It’s a complete reversal that undermines Israel’s war against a terrorist organization that’s hell bent on destroying America’s closest ally.
Everyone who’s surprised by this, clap your hands.
Wow, listen to that silence.
Show your true colors.
For those wondering how Iran plans to use the far left… Google Beaches in Iran in the 1970s…. and see what happened to them and to no one’s surprise what happened to the liberals when Islamic Republic.
This article is insane. He’s just pointing out a huge humanitarian disaster, he still supports Israel. This stupid article will influence people to vote for an actual antisemitic government under trump..
Harris picked him for a reason. She knew how he would perform. Politicians of all stripes are naturally unchaste. Particularly those that, being truly regressive in their alliances and views, call themselves ” progressives”.
