Israeli forces have ended the 32-year reign of one of the world’s most dangerous terrorists.
As part of operation “New Order,” Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah was eliminated in an aerial bombardment on the terror organization’s main base on Friday. Nasrallah’s headquarters was reportedly located underground beneath residential buildings in the Dahiyeh neighborhood of Beirut. Alongside Nasrallah, the commander of Hezbollah’s so-called Southern Front, Ali Karaki, was also killed.
In a press briefing after the assassination, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Herzi Halevi warned that the IDF would reach anyone who threatened the Jewish State and its citizens.
“The strike was carried out while the top brass of Hezbollah were at their headquarters and engaged in coordinating terror activities against the citizens of the State of Israel,” he said, adding that Nasrallah had been engaged in planning imminent attacks against Israel at the time of the strike.
“We will not let it happen,” Halevi cautioned. “Our war is not with the Lebanese people; our war is with Hezbollah. Israel doesn’t seek a wider escalation. We seek two things: to bring the hostages home after a year in Hamas captivity, and to make sure our borders are safe and secure for our citizens.”
In a subsequent media briefing on Saturday, Halevi affirmed the elimination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah and added, “I want to say this very clearly, Nasrallah was one of the world’s strongest and most influential terrorists, and one of the terrorists with the most capabilities in the world. He was a real threat, with the blood of thousands of people on his hands.”
Halevi also revealed the mobilization of three reserve battalions to reinforce its Central Command defenses amid heightening tensions with Hezbollah in Lebanon. This comes on top of the reported additional 4,000 soldiers deployed to Israel’s north earlier this week in anticipation of a full-blown war against Iran’s favorite terror proxy.
