A precision IDF strike on a Gaza school on Saturday has ignited a firestorm of controversy.

According to an IDF spokesman, Israeli forces launched a targeted attack on Gaza City’s Al-Taba’een school complex based on intelligence indicating that the facility had been overrun by Hamas and Islamic Jihad. Although 19 high-profile terrorists were killed during the strike, the number of civilian casualties has come under question.

In a scathing statement, the Palestinian Authority’s foreign affairs department accused Israel of waging a war of extermination against Arabs. They claimed that over a hundred Gazans were killed and hundreds more injured in the attack.

“The illegal Israeli occupation has no connection to humanity, and it is mandatory to hold it accountable and punish it for its crimes, as well as to hold accountable and punish all the countries and factors collaborating in committing all these crimes,” the PA statement reads.

However, Israeli military officials assert that the PA’s casualty numbers are exaggerated, citing surveillance data and information about the size of the warheads used in the operation.

The PA also called for the International Criminal Court (ICC) to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, labeling them “war criminals.”

Meanwhile, the IDF expanded evacuation orders in Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip overnight. The order comes as Hamas has reinfiltrated the area and is using Arab civilians as human shields to stage attacks against Israel.
